In the fast-moving world of consulting, it’s easy to jump straight from one deliverable to the next. But last week, the Victoria team at Focal Engineering took a well-earned moment to celebrate a major milestone—the completion of the proposed City of Vancouver Energy Modelling Guidelines v3.
This project has been a massive, two-year effort, involving months of energy modelling and research, two industry-wide events, two public reviews, and countless conversations with experts across the field. Throughout the process, our goal has been to strike a balanced approach—one that provides clarity, consistency, and ultimately, better buildings for BC in the years ahead.
While we recognize that not every proposed change will be universally loved, we’re proud of the collaboration and thought that went into shaping this next phase of Vancouver’s energy standards. Last week, we sent the final proposed guidelines and sealed report, which will soon be heading to Vancouver Council for review.
A huge thank you to everyone who engaged with us over the years—your insights, feedback, and expertise helped shape this work. We look forward to seeing how these guidelines drive progress in the industry!
