Mechanical engineering has long complemented Focal’s work in energy modelling. Our combined expertise allows system decisions to be evaluated against energy and carbon targets while design is still flexible, helping project teams navigate real trade-offs between performance, cost, constructability, and durability.
To support this integrated approach, Andy Chong has joined Focal as Principal. With nearly two decades of experience in high-performance buildings across BC, he brings multidisciplinary expertise spanning new construction, retrofit, and redevelopment projects, with a focus on low-carbon mechanical systems.
